What happens when the boundaries between urban life and the animal kingdom blur? In my experimental video, “Wild Linz,” I explore a surreal vision where both native wildlife and exotic creatures migrate into the streets to inhabit and eventually take over the city. Rather than using generic stock footage, the entire visual experience was generated using local generative AI, utilizing my own extensive private collection of photos from the city of Linz and my many visits to the zoo.

This project was a deep dive into the power of local computing and creative autonomy. While the massive foundation models were trained externally, every step of the creative production—including the prompts and the musical soundtrack generated by a local Large Language Model (LLM)—was handled entirely on my own hardware at home. Most importantly, thanks to the beautiful sunny autumn weather, the entire rendering process was powered 100% by solar energy. It may not be 4K or perfect, but it is a nice Full HD production.

Nature is moving back in—and it’s bringing the exotic with it. This is ‘Wild Linz’.
